David Martin Agency, Inc. (DMA) is a full service employee benefit broker consultant agency with high-level expertise and consulting services. Founded in 1982 by David Martin, CEBS (Fellow), DMA is a top ten agency as reported by BusinessJournal and was named a 2010 and 2011 “Best Places to Work” and 2011 “Healthiest Employer”. We were also awarded the Bronze Award for the 2011 Wellness by Design Awards by Hennepin County. We are headquartered in Minnesota, with national and international clients.

Philosophy

DMA is different than other agencies. Our mission is to increase the value of business and improve the lives of employees by providing benefit programs and services in the most expert, ethical, and affordable way possible. We are unique as we are a private company; not operated by a bank or national consulting firm. Additionally, we believe that our staff should be salaried and not commission-based, helping to ensure the highest level of expert consultation to our clients.

Team

We provide benefit consultants in disciplines of health and welfare plans, retirement plans, executive benefits, wellness initiatives, health management/analytics, fiduciary audits, human resources, technology, compliance, and communications.

Our employees stay with us for a significant period of time and have considerable experience in the industry before joining DMA. Our staff is of the caliber found in any large, national consulting house; yet we offer personalized and customized consulting services at more modest costs. We prefer to operate as a “boutique,” providing benefit products and consulting services tailored to your unique goals and objectives using the resources and personnel that best fit your group or project. Our average tenure of employees is 10 years.

Industry Influence

DMA is well known and highly regarded within the industry. We are currently the Minnesota partner to the prestigious Benefit Advisors Network (BAN); a premier network of nationally credentialed independent benefit advisory and consulting companies. We have served as members of various committees including the HealthPartners Work Group, BlueCross BlueShield Minnesota (BCBSM) Agent Advisory Board and Medica VP Round Table.

Our President, David Martin, is one of few benefit consultants in Minnesota routinely invited to the annual National BCBS Consortium Plan conference for consultants working on key and national accounts. We have employees who are public speakers and authors on health care topics in addition to serving on numerous councils and editorial boards. Our nearly 30-year relationship with major carriers and working within the industry can attest to our integrity, professionalism and leadership.
